dead week

mainly sleepless nights with manu chao on repeat, which prompted me to join couchsurfing.com. doubtful i'll return.

business: multiple bowls of oatmeal, copious amounts of coffee, the odd o.j. and pasta depending on energy/will.
pleasure: nutella+blackberry preserves on dark rye. (and more coffee.)

i cherish those sandwiches for two reasons:
one) they taste like precious stones; and
two) eventually--and fairly consistently--the sandwich begins to take on the shape of minnesota.

iceland overload

in the course of a few days i went from knowing only a handful of facts about iceland such as that naming confusion with greenland and how björk is from there to becoming well-versed in icelandic sagas and food.
